PEPPER PIKE, OH- The Orange Lions boys lacrosse team punched its ticket to the next round of the OHSAA State Tournament Tuesday night with a convincing 9-3 victory over Aurora.
The game started as a tightly contested battle, with both teams trading goals in the opening quarter and finishing the first tied at 3-3. Defense took center stage in the second quarter as neither team was able to find the back of the net, sending the teams into halftime deadlocked.
Orange seized control coming out of the break. The Lions erupted for four third-quarter goals while their defense completely shut down the Greenmen offense. Aurora would not score again after the opening quarter as Orange steadily pulled away to secure the tournament win.
James Bobeck led the Lions attack with a hat trick, scoring three goals on the night. Henry Vucetic also recorded three goals for Orange in the victory. Joseph Bobeck added two goals, while Zachary Dvorin found the scoring column with one goal.
With the win, the Lions advance to the next round of the OHSAA Tournament and will travel to Gilmour Academy on Friday for a 7 p.m. matchup against the Lancers.
